Dr. Michael DeLisio: Founder, Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Michael DeLisio co-founded Mission Microwave in 2014 and serves as Chief Technology Officer, directing the company’s overall technical vision while remaining actively engaged in RF design and development. With more than 25 years in the satellite industry—preceded by ten years researching spatial power combining techniques—Dr. DeLisio is recognized as a leader in advanced microwave amplifier design.

Earlier in his career, Dr. DeLisio co-founded Wavestream Corporation, serving as CTO from 2001 to 2014, and was a faculty member in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Hawaii from 1996 to 2001. He is credited with developing the “grid amplifier,” a breakthrough that delivered record power from a single Ka-band amplifier chip and became the foundation for multiple commercially successful SATCOM products. His innovations in spatially combined amplifier technology have powered high-performance transmitters across the industry.

Dr. DeLisio holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He is an IEEE Fellow, an active member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, co-inventor on 16 issued U.S. patents, and co-author of more than 60 technical publications.
